INDYCAR: Takuma Sato back in a third RLL Racing INDY 500 entry

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. — The 2-time Indianapolis 500 champion is back for more!

Takuma Sato and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing will run it back in the No. 75 Amada entry for the 110th running in 2026.

The 49-year-old is a six-time winner in the series. Four wins came with RLL Racing including his second 500 win in 2020.

Now, he will attempt his 17th Indianapolis 500 bid with a group began their preparation as soon as the 109th running concluded.

“The moment the checkered flag fell at the 2025 Indy 500, our preparation for the 110th running had already begun. I’m incredibly excited to continue this journey with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing as we take on unfinished business.” Said Sato.

A third straight season with the team has Sato invigorated for the opportunity to add another Borg-Warner to his cabinet.

“last year, we showed tremendous speed and strong potential. Now, we return even more focused, more prepared, and more determined. The Indy 500 is always special, but this year carries extra excitement. I can’t wait to reunite with the team, see all the familiar faces, and start building momentum toward May.”

Sato returns to RLL with his experience and pedigree along with the relentless energy that has defined his career.

That winning combination could provide a boost for an RLL group that already showed strong oval pace earlier this season at Phoenix.

He came close last season, where he qualified on the front row and led 51 laps, and his return was a no brainer for co-owners Mike Lanigan and Bobby Rahal.

“I’m optimistic about what we can accomplish together and excited for the opportunity to help him chase a third Indy 500 victory.” Lanigan said.

“We are thrilled to have Takuma back with the team for the Indy 500. If there is a place he knows his way around, its Indy. It’s been a great relationship for a number of years now and I’m pleased that he wants to come back for the 500, and pleased that it is with us.” added Rahal.
