J.J. Yeley out late with crash damage at Kansas
Sporting the colors of new sponsor Jungle Law Firm, J.J. Yeley was headed for a respectable Sunday run at Kansas Speedway.
Then, late in the race, Yeley scraped the wall with his No. 15 Rick Ware Racing Ford. The contact caused an issue the team couldn’t fix in time.
“I was having a solid day. Then, driver mistake got us in the wall. I broke something in the rear suspension and ended our day,” Yeley said.
The No. 15 team diagnosed that issue as a broken toe link.
With Yeley finishing 34th, the team dropped to 34th in owner points — now among the Bottom Three chartered teams. That puts RWR at risk of placing among the Bottom Three for the second year in a row.
Placing in the Bottom Three for three years in a row puts a team at risk of NASCAR revoking their charter. Currently, the No. 51 RWR charter is set to end up that way after this year.
