Jeff Burton, Michael Waltrip Racing planning more races
Jeff Burton has not done much racing this season. The NASCAR veteran’s lone start came at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March. But he’s not done.
If plans come through, Burton and Michael Waltrip Racing are intending to run at least two more races this season.
“It’s still up in the air, to be quite honest,” Burton said to The Racing Experts. “[We’re] planning on doing Kentucky and Michigan, and maybe a few more before then, maybe not.”
This season marks the first time since 1993 Burton is not racing full-time in NASCAR’s premiere series. Missing this year’s Daytona 500 snapped a streak of 626 consecutive starts for Burton, missing his first race since 1996.
The semi-retired driver will be moving to the broadcast booth in 2015 for NBC.
