JJ Yeley crew chief suspended 2 races for post-race altercation
HAMPTON, Ga. — NASCAR issued a two-race suspension to Jason Miller, the crew chief for J.J. Yeley, for a post-race altercation involving Kyle Weatherman.

On lap 59 of the 167 scheduled laps in Saturday night’s RAPTOR King of Tough 250 at Atlanta, Kyle Weatherman bumped into J.J. Yeley entering turn one. Yeley spun to the inside of the track but didn’t hit anything.
The spin left the team frustrated. Someone on the radio, indistinguishable at the time, said, “I hope Kyle Weatherman has pants on after the race because I’m gonna come find him.”
Then, after the race, a crew member walked up to Weatherman and appeared to grab him by the neck. Weatherman pushed him away and eventually the team stepped into separate them.
NASCAR identified the crew member as Jason Miller, Yeley’s crew chief. Miller will miss the next two events for violating rulebook sections 4.4.D.
The section specifies “member actions that could result in a fine and/or indefinite suspension, or membership revocation.”
Among the actions listed that are applicable in this instance are:
- Actions by a NASCAR Member that NASCAR finds to be detrimental to stock car racing or NASCAR.
- Member-to-member confrontation(s) with physical violence (e.g. striking another Competitor) and other violent manifestations such as significant threat(s) and/or abuse and/or endangerment.
- Multiple violations of the Code of Conduct.
Weatherman finished 17th, one lap down, while Yeley finished 24th, two laps down.
