Joe Gibbs Racing start 1-2-3-4 with Hamlin on Pole at Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Denny Hamlin will start on pole for the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway as Joe Gibbs Racing qualifies first through fourth.

For the first time in team history, JGR goes 1-2-3-4 in qualifying in the Cup Series.

Hamlin will have the best view of them all as he will have a clear windshield to start his bid for a third consecutive Las Vegas race win.

Ty Gibbs will start alongside his teammate on the front row from second.

Then, the final two JGR teammates of Christopher Bell and Chase Briscoe fill out the second row from third and fourth which secured the team’s historic session.

Tyler Reddick rounds out the top five starters from fifth place to make it an all-Toyota top five.

Next, last week’s winner and current Chase leader Kyle Larson will start alongside Reddick from the third row in sixth.

Then, Austin Cindric continues his great momentum on intermediates with another top ten start from seventh.

The highest qualified Ford in the field will start besides the fastest driver in practice, William Byron.

Finally, the two that tangled together at Kansas round out the top ten from the fifth row. Bubba Wallace will start ninth with Carson Hocevar in tenth to conclude the all-Chase driver top ten.

Notable Entrants

While the entire top ten qualifiers consisted of Chase drivers, they actually made up the top 14 starters for the South Point 400.

Daniel Suarez and Ryan Preece are just outside the top ten and share the sixth row from 11th and 12th.

Then Chase Elliott and Chris Buescher occupy the following row behind them from 13th and 14th.

Pivotally, the only two driver who did not qualify near the front were the Team Penske duo of Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano.

Blaney will start 20th while Logano has the most work to do among the Chase drivers from 23rd.

Josh Berry and Noah Gragson each suffered solo spins during the lone practice sessions and sustained major damage to their cars.

They will start at the rear of the 36-car field as no open entrants made the trip to the desert this weekend.
