Joey Logano adds second Team Penske pole of the weekend at Phoenix
AVONDALE, Ariz — Joey Logano flexed Team Penske’s speed and won the pole for the Straight Talk Wireless 500 at Phoenix Raceway

Whether its the NASCAR Cup Series or the NTT INDYCAR Series, Team Penske will lead both fields to green for the “Desert Double”.
This is Logano’s 34th career Cup Series pole. He cut the dogleg with courage and diamonded turn two for his tremendous time of 26.561 seconds.
Kyle Larson will line up alongside Logano. His 26.678 second lap broke up the potential Penske front row lock out as Austin Cindric settled for third.
Daniel Suarez continued his hot start with Spire Motorsports. He will start fourth after his 26.744 second lap time.
Ryan Blaney qualified fifth with a 26.747, giving Team Penske all of their cars in the top five.
Not only for this race, but in the INDYCAR race as well.
There was 37 entrants for a total of 37 starting spots. Austin Hill started his five-race schedule in the Richard Childress Racing No. 33.
Hill split his teammates in qualifying and starts 27th.
Connor Zilisch will start midpack in 19th after his 26.882 second lap but the start of his qualifying lap nearly ended the run before it truly began. He exited turn four too high and brushed the outside wall along the start-finish line and continued.
Practice Recap
A close call for him during the session but the proceeding practice session contained more than just a simple scuff.
During practice, a few drivers suffered flat tires. Chris Buescher and Tyler Reddick were among the few drivers who had tire issues with little to no damage sustained but one was not so lucky.
Brad Keselowski had the hardest hit in practice which left him without a qualifying run.
His right-front tire gave way heading into turn 3 which sent him crashing into the outside wall.
His team will prepare their backup car and will start 37th and last after not attempting a qualifying run in the session.
