Joey Logano, Team Penske celebrate 2024 titles at White House

Joey Logano, members of Team Penske organization, and other professional motorsports celebrated their championship victories of 2024 Wednesday (April 9) in the nation’s capital with President Donald Trump.

President Trump hosted multiple champions of professional motorsports from 2024, including Logano, who won the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series championship; Indianapolis 500 winner Josef Newgarden; and IMSA GTP champions Porsche Penske Motorsport.

Among NASCAR personnel at the event included NASCAR commissioner Steve Phelps, NASCAR president Steve O’Donnell, Team Penske owner Roger Penske, Logano’s crew chief Paul Wolfe, and 2023 series champion Ryan Blaney.

President Trump gave the champions a look inside the Oval Office, which serves as the formal working area for the commander-in-chief.

Logano’s No. 22 Ford, Newgarden’s No. 2, and Porsche Penske Motorsport’s No. 7 were on display near the White House South Portico, which overlooks the South Lawn.

The president walked with Penske to the display of racecars, chatted with the drivers and executives by the vehicles, and made a few remarks to the White House press pool about Penske’s victories as “well deserving.”

“Roger Penske’s a great friend of mine, I’ve known him a long time,” President Trump said.

The president also commended the athletic ability of racing drivers, calling them “great athletes.”

“These are great champions, a great sport, what you’ve done in Indianapolis also with what you’ve done at the track, is incredible,” President Trump remarked while looking at Penske.

The event was the third time the Trump administration honored the prior year’s NASCAR champion.
