Justin Allgaier steals the Las Vegas Xfinity pole from JGR

LAS VEGAS — Justin Allgaier picked up where he left off from the spring event, taking the NASCAR Xfinity Series pole at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

By pacing the 1.5-mile track in 30.157 seconds, Allgaier picked up a considerable amount of time from practice to qualifying to capture his second pole this season. This is his 12th career Xfinity Series pole.

Lining up alongside Allgaier will be his JRM teammate of Connor Zilisch. He also vastly improved on his practice time to jump up to the front row with a time of 30.215 seconds.

Brandon Jones (30.361) starts third, then his teammate Aric Almirola (30.384) starts alongside him in fourth. Nick Sanchez (30.402) rounded out the top-five starting spots.

Jesse Love (30.414) starts his Round of 8 campaign in sixth, followed by Christian Eckes (30.441) in seventh, Taylor Gray (30.504) in eighth, Carson Kvapil (30.504) in ninth and Sheldon Creed (30.547) rounding out the top 10.

The remaining Round of 8 drivers qualified within striking distance inside the top 15: Sammy Smith in 14th and Sam Mayer in 15th.

Parker Retzlaff and Ryan Ellis did not attempt to qualify and will start in the back. The good news for them is that all drivers will qualify as there is a full 38-car field entered in the event.

JGR’s Taylor Gray Fastest in Xfinity Series Practice at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Taylor Gray set the fastest time in the Xfinity Series practice from Las Vegas Motor Speedway. His lap time was closely followed by Ryan Sieg, Nick Sanchez, Jesse Love and teammate Aric Almirola.

The non-playoff drivers showed out. Eight of the top 10 finished practice with the top times. Corey Day finished the session in sixth, with the fastest speeds from the 10-lap run onward.

On the flip side, the current playoff drivers found some difficulty this session. The fastest playoff driver was Jesse Love in fourth.

The difference between the tire package Goodyear has brought to the fall event from the spring event seemed to have left JRM drivers on the back foot heading into qualifying.

No JRM drivers set a lap time in the top-10 with points leader Connor Zilisch and fellow Round of 8 teammate Sammy Smith had results outside the top-25.
