Kevin Harvick closer to Thomas, Stewart on wins list

Kevin Harvick is now one Cup Series win away from tying Herb Thomas and two away from Tony Stewart on the series’ all-time wins list.
Harvick led the final 18 laps in the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway Sunday (August 11) en route to his second victory of 2019 and the 47th of his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career.
“We just had a really fast car all weekend,” Harvick said. “Our car handled really well today, and with the multiple lanes, we were able to run all three lanes pretty well and make our way through traffic.”
Harvick continues to sit 16th all-time on the Cup Series wins list. He began the year 17th overall, behind Buck Baker (46).
The next five drivers ahead of Harvick on the wins list are Herb Thomas (48 wins), Tony Stewart (49), Junior Johnson (50), Ned Jarrett (50) and Lee Petty (54).
Harvick is third among active drivers. Jimmie Johnson leads active drivers with 83 victories, and Kyle Busch is second with 55.
The next Cup Series races will be the Bass Pro Shops / NRA Night Race on Saturday, August 17 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
