Kevin Harvick ties Bobby Labonte on poles list
LAS VEGAS — Kevin Harvick’s pole-awarding time of 29.914 seconds at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Friday netted the driver his 26th career pole in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, tying 2000 series champion on the all-time poles list.
Harvick, 43, earned his first pole of 2019 and his first ever at the 1.5-mile track in the Cup Series for the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube.
“My car was fast right on the bottom,” Harvick said of his qualifying run.
Harvick and Labonte sit 30th all-time on the poles list for the series.
The next five drivers ahead of Labonte and Harvick on the list are Kurt Busch (27), Kasey Kahne (27), Terry Labonte (27), Ricky Rudd (29) and Denny Hamlin (30).
The top-five all-time pole winners in the Cup Series are Richard Petty (123), David Pearson (113), Jeff Gordon (81), Cale Yarborough (69) and Darrell Waltrip and Bobby Allison (tied at 59).
The Pennzoil 400 presented Jiffy Lube will be televised live on FOX Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
