Kyle Larson on Bristol pole after rain cancels Qualifying

BRISTOL, Tenn. — Kyle Larson will lead the field to green from the pole after rain cancels both practice and qualifying for the NASCAR Cup Series at Bristol.

Larson enters the third race of the Chase second in the standings. Now, he has the best starting spot to continue his march to the top of the Chase.

Larson has two of the previous five victories at Bristol in the series and shows up to Tennessee with momentum on his side.

He will line up on the front row with Joey Logano in second.

Then the current leader of the Chase, Denny Hamlin, looks to capture another sword at Bristol and maintain his point lead from third.

William Byron follows his fourth-placed run in St. Louis with a fourth place starting position for the night race at Bristol.

Carson Hocevar rounds out the top five starters from fifth at the short track where tempers can boil over more so than other places.

Alex Bowman will start as the highest non-Chase driver to his outside from sixth. Bowman enters the last great coliseum in great form after his runners-up result at Gateway.

The fourth row includes Ross Chastain from seventh and Chase driver Austin Cindric in eight.

Finally, one of the Bass Pro Shops sponsored cars fill the ninth spot. Austin Dillon will start ninth with Bubba Wallace rounding out the top ten from tenth.

Notable Entrants

Just under half of the top ten starting positions are filled by Chase drivers. Christopher Bell leads the way of the bunch outside of the top ten from 12th.

Then the defending Bristol spring winner Ty Gibbs slots in just behind his teammate from 13th.

Ryan Preece will start from the row behind Gibbs in 16th. Tyler Reddick concludes the top 20 from 20th one row further.

Five other Chase drivers who had trouble in Gateway will pay for it further because of where the NASCAR metric has set them to start.

Chris Buescher will start 23rd, then Chase Briscoe will start in 26th. Chase Elliott will start 27th with father-to-be Daniel Suarez besides him from 28th. Finally, Ryan Blaney has the most work to do of them all from 29th position.

Only 37 cars entered the Bass Pro Shops America’s Night Race. Therefore, every entrant has qualified into the event which will include the only open entrant of Josh Bilicki for the No. 66 Garage 66 entry.
