Winding the clock back to Chicagoland Speedway in July 2009, when Earnhardt Jr. made his 346th start, here is what his numbers looked like:

  • 18 wins
  • 87 Top-5 finishes
  • 140 Top-10s
  • 6471 laps led

Meanwhile, Larson’s numbers, not including the aforementioned 26 wins, look like this:

  • 111 Top-5s
  • 172 Top-10s
  • 8230 laps led

Larson also tied Fred Lorenzen on the all-time wins list Sunday. Lorenzen earned 26 wins in 126 starts.

Lorenzen, a 2015 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, had a remarkable 13.3 average finish and led 8,152 laps in 158 starts. For reference, it took until start no. 343rd — at Kansas this year — for Larson to pass Lorenzen on the all-time laps led list.
