Layne Riggs disqualified for unsecure windshield

HAMPTON, Ga. — NASCAR disqualified Layne Riggs’ No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Ford in tech inspection after Saturday’s FR8 208 at Atlanta.

Officials ruled the team violating rulebook section 14.4.10.1.G. It specifies that “windshield fasteners must remain tight and stationary for the entire event.”

Late in the race, NASCAR black-flagged Riggs for the windshield. That kicked Riggs back to 24th after placing third in stage one.

With the disqualification, he’ll instead finish 33rd without the eight stage points – resulting in a 17-point loss.

Riggs has been off to a rough start in 2024. At Daytona, he finished 33rd after getting involved in an early wreck and not being able to get the damage repaired.
