Layne Riggs secures Truck Series pole at North Wilkesboro
NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. — Layne Riggs secures a second consecutive pole in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series from North Wilkesboro Speedway.
This is his second pole of the season and the sixth of his career in the series.

The regular season point leader continued to show immense momentum at the short track. After losing out on converting his pole at Lime Rock Park to a win, he has a chance to retry that feat once more.
The four-time winner this season has the best starting spot to add a fifth. But, the rest of the field is stacked.
Carson Hocevar will start alongside Riggs on the front row from second. Then Christopher Bell and Corey Heim make up the second row from third and fourth.
Giovanni Ruggiero will start fifth with Chase Elliott to his outside from sixth. By the time they take the green for the Truck Series event, the two will have already been on track with each other for both CARS Tour events.
Kaden Honeycutt will start seventh. He will run both CARS Tour events from the speedway as well. Last week’s winner, Grant Enfinger, shares the row with Honeycutt frome eighth.
Chandler Smith will defend his series win from last season from ninth with Stewart Friesen who rounds out the top ten from tenth.
Short track ace Ty Majeski will start deep in the field. The Chase contender will fire off in 27th.
Notable Entries
The Truck Series is the lone NASCAR sanctioned support series this weekend so naturally it drew many familiar names.
Spire Motorsports brought together a trio of NASCAR Cup Series winners to the short track.
Carson Hocevar will start the highest of the Cup Series regulars from second in the No. 77. Then Chase Elliott will line up in the back half of the top ten from sixth in the No. 7. Finally, Shane van Gisbergen makes his third series appearance this season in the No. 71 from 19th.
Christopher Bell has already claimed a short track win in the series after conquering Bristol earlier in the spring. He will start third.
Kaulig Racing brought back “The Rocketman” Ryan Newman for their free agent No. 25 entry. The former Daytona 500 winner will start (), good for third of the RAM contingency.
A few faces will make their debut at North Wilkesboro as well.
Kasey Klein will make his debut with Rackley War in their part-time No. 27 entry from 31st. Then Donovan Strauss will make his debut with Niece Motorsports in their part-time No. 4 entry right beside him from 32nd.
Landon Huffman returned to the series for the first time since 2019 in the Henderson Motorsports No. 75.
Unfortunately, he will have to wait to make his return as he and Timmy Hill were sent home after they failed to qualify into the 36 truck field.
