Martin Truex Jr. earns much-needed pole at Martinsville

Car No. 19 sat P1 at the end of NASCAR Cup Series qualifying Saturday at Martinsville Speedway.

Martin Truex Jr. will lead the field to the green flag Sunday, marking his second straight pole position.

Five of the six Toyota drivers qualified in the top-7 positions. Ty Gibbs will share the front row with Truex. Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin, Bubba Wallace and Christopher Bell will start fourth, sixth and seventh.

Hamlin and Truex enter Sunday at -17 points to the cutline, behind Ryan Blaney who will start 11th.

Also below the cutline are Chris Buescher (-47) and Tyler Reddick (-10) who will start 18th and 19th.

All four Stewart-Haas Racing cars qualified in the top-12 as well: Chase Briscoe (3rd), Kevin Harvick (8th), Ryan Preece (9th) and Aric Almirola (12th)

Almirola officially announced he is stepping away from racing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2024.

Kyle Larson (5th) and Brad Keselowski (10th) fill out the top-12 spots.

The Xfinity 500 goes green just after 2 p.m. ET. NBC, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and MRN affiliates will have the broadcast.
