AVONDALE, Ariz. — Martin Truex Jr.’s victory in the Instacart 500 Sunday (Mar. 14) marked his first Cup Series win of 2021 and the 28th of his Cup Series career.

Truex’s win ties him with 1960 series champion Rex White and Carl Edwards on the Cup Series all-time wins list. The three drivers are tied for the 28th-most points victories in series history.

“This is just unbelievable,” Truex said. “Unbelievable day for Bass Pro Shops, Toyota, TRD, this Camry was smoking fast. I just want to thank all of the men and women at JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing) that make it possible to let us drive these things.”

Truex’s win snapped a 29-race winless streak.

The 2017 series champion has now won at least one race in each of the last seven seasons.

“Hopefully we can keep tuning on this thing and come back for the Final Four in November,” Truex said.

The next five drivers ahead of Truex on the wins list are Kurt Busch (32), Dale Jarrett (32), Fireball Roberts (33), Brad Keselowski (34), and Bobby Isaac (37).

The next race for the Cup Series is scheduled for Sunday, Mar. 21 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
