Martin Truex Jr. ties two drivers on Cup Series wins list

Martin Truex Jr. is now tied with Jim Paschal and Joe Weatherly for 32nd all-time on the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series wins list.

Truex led 109 total laps Saturday night (September 21) in the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond Raceway to capture his sixth win of 2019 (series high) and the 25th of his premier series career.

“I am really proud of these guys and the guys back at the shop.” Truex said in Victory Lane. “We have so many great people, and I wish they could all be here to celebrate.

“It was a great team effort by everybody, all four cars, just a thrill. This doesn’t happen very often. We are going to enjoy it. The Lord blessed us with a great night.”

The win marked the first time Truex has won two consecutive points-awarding races in the Cup Series.

Since the beginning of the year, Truex has passed 12 drivers on the wins list, starting the season tied for 46th overall on the list tied with Davey Allison, Buddy Baker, Greg Biffle and Fonty Flock at 19 wins apiece.

The next five drivers ahead of Truex on the wins list are Fred Lorenzen (26 wins), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (26), Rex White (28), Carl Edwards (28) and Brad Keselowski (30).

The next race for the Cup Series will be the Bank of America ROVAL 400 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course.
