MSR have their guy. They are able to lock their young driver to a multiyear contract after losing their reigning Indianapolis 500 winner, Felix Rosenqvist, to another team.

While, the organization will remain familiar to Armstrong, the number won’t.

He will switch to the flagship No. 60 from his current No.66 for the team. The number switch seems to confirm MSR’s commitment to the New Zealander as well.

Armstrong, 25, has shown improvement every season with the team and the progress has been reflected in the teams new direction.

โ€œIโ€™m proud to announce a multi-year partnership with MSR,โ€ said Armstrong. โ€œI want to thank Mike, Jim, Tim and Helio for this opportunity and for believing in me. I feel that Meyer Shank Racing gives me one of the strongest cars on the grid every weekend. Our goals are aligned, we want to win races and be consistently fighting at the front. I especially look forward to returning to the Indy 500 having unfinished business from this year. We still have eight races left this season and we have some strong momentum going. Iโ€™m ready more than ever to close out this season on a high note and start prepping for 2027.”

The Ohio-based team are currently in the middle of their best season to date.

The INDY 500 win is the most visible portion of the work the organization has put into 2026. They also have a chance to complete their best championship finish with Rosenqvist who currently runs sixth.

MSR firmly believes in Marcus Armstrong’s ability to continue where Rosenqvist will leave off in 2027.

โ€œSince joining the team, Marcus has really shown that he is a top contender, something that is not easy to do in this field,โ€ said team owner Mike Shank.

โ€œHis work ethic, feedback, and determination to improve every weekend make him exactly the kind of driver you want to build around. We’ve seen tremendous growth from him, and we’re excited to continue that journey together starting in 2027.โ€

Finally, the team had no comment on who will complete their two-car lineup as they will reveal the new driver of the No. 66 at a later date.
