Monster Mile crushes Chastain the Melon Man at Dover

DOVER, Del. –The Monster Mile crushed the Melon Man as Ross Chastain failed to finish each race during the 2025 NASCAR weekend at Dover Motor Speedway.

In Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race, Ross Chastain finished fifth and sixth in the first and second stages but finished 38th — last — in the race overall.

“Rear gear broke. There was no indication. I got the first vibration just before it broke,” Chastain said.

Chastain completed 106 laps before the issue. In three previous Xfinity starts this season, Chastain finished fifth at Nashville, fourth at Darlington and eighth at Circuit of the Americas.

Chastain started 19th in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover. He didn’t have as good of a day but still was on the fringes of the top 10 at certain points in the race.

Then, with 15 laps to go, his day ended after he smacked the outside wall exiting turn two.

Chastain finished 33rd on the day, dealing him his fourth finish of 24th or worse in the last five races. The tough finish Sunday came in contrast to an otherwise solid Cup track record at Dover. He led 86 of 400 laps and finished third in 2022, led 98 laps and finished second in 2023 and finished 12th in 2024.

Next up is Indianapolis Motor Speedway where Chastain finished 15th after leading eight of 160 laps in 2024. He
