Mosack masters Atlanta for first career Truck pole

HAMPTON, Ga. — Connor Mosack mastered Atlanta Motor Speedway to qualify on the pole for the first time in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career.

Mosack earned the pole for Saturday’s Fr8 Racing 208 at Atlanta Motor Speedway with a lap of 31.959 seconds. He was the only driver to lap the 1.54-mile track in under 32 seconds in the final round of qualifying Friday.

Mosack’s No. 81 Chevrolet is one of four McAnally-Hilgemann Racing trucks that will start inside the top-7 on Saturday. Daniel Hemric will start third in his No. 19 truck while the No. 91 of Jack Wood will start fifth and the No. 18 of Tyler Ankrum will start seventh.

If Mosack chooses to start the race on the inside lane, this will give MHR control of the first four spots in that lane.

Jake Garcia was the highest-qualifying Ford driver, in 6th, while his ThorSport teammate Ben Rhodes qualified 10th.

Rhodes was the first truck to go out in the final round of qualifying, which started as a game of leap frog. Kyle Busch beat Rhodes’s lap, then Stewart Friesen beat Busch’s lap and Grant Enfinger beat Busch’s lap.

Rajah Caruth and Garcia slowed the game, slotting in behind Enfinger, while Jack Wood slotted in behind Caruth, but Mosack had the final leap, topping all of them for his first career NCTS pole.

Mosack is the 142nd driver to earn a pole in series history.
