HOMESTEAD, Fla. — Only three races left for all three NASCAR national series and the homestretch begins at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend.
NASCAR Cup Series’ Straight Talk Wireless 400
- Sunday at 2:30 p.m. (all times Eastern)
- NBC, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio
- 267 laps (stages end on laps 80/165/267)
- Practice and Qualifying: Saturday at 9:05 a.m.
There are two open teams on the entry list this weekend:
- No. 44 NY Racing Team Chevrolet: J.J. Yeley
- No. 66 MBM Motorsports Ford: Chad Finchum
In the revolving No. 15 Rick Ware Racing and No. 16 Kaulig Racing entries are Kaz Grala and A.J. Allmendinger, respectively.
Allmendinger, fresh off of making the Championship 4 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, is going for his third consecutive Top-5 finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the Cup Series. He will have Andrew Dickeson as his crew chief.
Dickeson, an Aussie who has experience as an engineer with Phoenix Racing and Richard Childress Racing and as a crew chief for the third Kaulig Racing entry, will serve as crew chief for the No. 16 team for the first time this weekend.
Travis Mack served as crew chief until he and Kaulig Racing parted ways after the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval – in favor of Darian Grubb for just Las Vegas.

With 38 entries, everyone will make the field, including William Sawalich who will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. Sawalich, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota native who recently turned 18 years old, will race full-time in the series next season.
Ryan Truex, who has won twice in the No. 19 Toyota this season but still isn’t guaranteed a ride for next season, will race the No. 26 Sam Hunt Racing Toyota.
Connor Zilisch is back in JR Motorsports’ No. 88 Chevrolet. Austin Green is listed as ready to race SS-Green Light Racing’s No. 14 Chevrolet, possibly marking his first start without Peterson Racing Group and Jordan Anderson Racing’s partnership.

William Sawalich and Connor Zilisch will each pull double-duty Saturday. Sawalich will race for TRICON Garage and Zilisch for Henderson Motorsports.
Corey Day, another hot prospect in NASCAR, will race the No. 91 Chevrolet for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing.
Frankie Muniz, who announced this week that he will race full-time in the Craftsman Truck Series next season, will race this weekend with Reaume Brothers Racing, whom he will race with next season.

A Twin Valley, MN, native, Fjeld became a motorsports fan at just three years old (first race was the 2002 Pennsylvania 500). He worked as a contributor and writer for TRE from 2010-18.
