NASCAR Cup Series: Blaney on Bristol pole

BRISTOL, Tenn. — Ryan Blaney captures the NASCAR Cup Series Pole for the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

This marks his 13th career Cup Series pole and his first at the track.

Tyler Reddick will start alongside Blaney on the front row but the Toyota camp showed immense speed as their contingency makes up the rest of the top five.

The second row includes Chase Briscoe in third with Riley Herbst achieving his highest career start in fourth.

Ty Gibbs looks to make his career best top five streak continue from fifth while the highest starting Chevrolet, Ross Chastain, starts in sixth.

Former next-gen Bristol winners lockout row four as Chris Buescher starts seventh and Kyle Larson lines up beside him in eighth. Austin Cindric and Carson Hocevar rounds out the top ten.

William Byron struggled with loose conditions during his ualifying run as he will start an abysmal 34th.

Five cars failed pre-race technical inspection twice and lost their pit selections. They include Ross Chastain, Kyle Larson, Cole Custer, Chad Finchum, and Michael McDowell.

Finally, all 37 entrants will qualify into the Food City 500 with the previously named Chad Finchum entering as the only open car this weekend.
