NASCAR moves CTMP NCWTS race to Darlington

NASCAR announced Tuesday afternoon that the Sept. 5 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race will not take place at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Ontario, Canada.
The race, originally scheduled to be run at CTMP as the second race of the NCWTS playoffs, will take place at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway due to the COVID-19 coronavirus global pandemic.
The move is due to logistical challenges stemming from the pandemic. Canada reported 98.55 cases per million in the country May 24, in contrast to the U.S. reporting 75.16 cases per million. However, only 4.4% of Canada’s population is fully vaccinated while 39.8% of the U.S. population is fully vaccinated.
In 2020, COVID-19 also forced the Labor Day weekend race at CTMP to be moved to Darlington. Sheldon Creed won last year’s race.
The race will take place Sept. 5 at 1:30 p.m. ET (TV: FS1, Radio: MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
