NASCAR to take 4 Xfinity cars to R&D Center after Charlotte
NASCAR will take four Xfinity Series cars back to the R&D Center after the BetMGM 300 Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The cars that Parker Retzlaff and Kyle Busch wheeled around CMS will go back to the R&D Center for wind tunnel testing. Meanwhile, the cars that Ryan Sieg and A.J. Allmendinger will go to the R&D Center for further teardown inspection.
Allmendinger, Busch and Sieg finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, while Retzlaff finished 14th.
Busch placed third and second in the first two stages and led 34 of 200 laps along the way.
Among the other three, only Sieg earned stage points. Sieg placed ninth and seventh in the stages.
Allmendinger started 11th but quickly fell back, fighting a loose racecar that was “hard to drive.” It may have contributed to an incident on lap 30 when Riley Herbst got loose off of turn two and spun, hitting the wall, after Allmendinger made contact.
Allmendinger rallied late in the race on newer tires than other drivers around him.
Retzlaff had a whiff of clean air near the end of stage two after staying out on older tires. However, he quickly dropped through the field and never got back up front, finishing 14th.
If NASCAR finds anything egregious at the R&D Center, they will announce penalties Tuesday.
