NASCAR unveils format for Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum

NASCAR revealed what the format for the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum will look like when the Cup Series heads to L.A. next month.

The Clash will have four 25-lap heat races, a 75-lap last-chance qualifier and a 150-lap feature race.

The heat races will take place Saturday while the LCQ and feature will take place Sunday.

Each heat race will lock the top-5 finishers into the feature. Meanwhile, the top-2 in the LCQ will lock into the feature.

The 23rd spot in the feature race will be the driver highest in 2023 driver points not already locked in.

NASCAR will split the 36 drivers into three practice groups. Each group will get three sessions and each competitor’s fastest lap time from their final practice session will determine the starting lineup for the heat races.

During all races, only green flag laps will count. There will be no overtimes in the heats and LCQ but the feature must end under green.

The feature race will also have a halfway break with Machine Gun Kelly performing.
