NTT INDYCAR Series unveils 2023 schedule
The 2023 NTT INDYCAR Series schedule was announced Tuesday.
The 2023 season will begin March 5 on the Streets of St. Petersburg, which will host the season opener for the 12th time in the last 15 years. The opener is one week later in 2023 than in 2022.
The season will end on September 10 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, which will host the season finale for the third time in the last five years.
The 2023 season will feature the same tracks as the 2022 schedule. The last time this happened in major open-wheel racing was when the 2000 CART schedule featured all of the same tracks as the 1999 schedule.
The races at St. Petersburg, Long Beach, Road America and Gateway are each one week later in 2023 than they were in 2022. The Texas race and the second Indianapolis road course race will each be two weeks later in 2023 than in 2022.
These changes will create a four-week gap between race one in St. Petersburg and race two in Texas, but also a three-week run of races to close out the season. All three of those races will be shown on NBC.
Ten other races will be shown on NBC, while the June Road America, July Mid-Ohio and August Indianapolis road course races will be shown on USA Network and the July Toronto race will be on the Peacock streaming app. All 17 races will also be shown on Peacock.
In 2022, 14 of the 17 races were on NBC while Detroit and Gateway were on USA and the Toronto race was exclusively on Peacock – and every race was streamed on Peacock.
In 2023, the only change in the order of races is the second Indianapolis road course race will be held a week after the Nashville street course, rather than a week before.
The NTT INDYCAR Series will race on the Indianapolis road course the same day as the NASCAR Xfinity Series – August 12 – and a day before Cup races there.
The NTT INDYCAR Series will also be paired with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for a weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. INDYCAR will race there April 2, a day after the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is set to race there.
