NXS Field Breakdown: 2021 New Holland 250 at Michigan

A.J. Allmendinger won Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series New Holland 250 at Michigan. It was his third consecutive finish of second or better.

Brandon Jones finished second and earned his best finish since finishing second to Myatt Snider in February at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Jade Buford finished ninth and earned his best NXS result on an oval.

Bubba Wallace finished tenth in his first NXS race since the September 2017 race at Chicago. Wallace finished tenth in that race too.

Ty Gibbs finished 13th and led one lap after wrecking at the exit of turn two during the second overtime.

Matt Mills finished 14th after running inside the Top 15 for much of the race. It was Mills’s best finish of the season so far.

Jeb Burton led 23 laps and finished 29th, four laps down, in Saturday’s race. Burton ran out of fuel and stalled entering pit road on Lap 117.

Myatt Snider, Austin Cindric, Joe Graf Jr., Daniel Hemric and Brandon Brown were all involved in a multi-car wreck Saturday on Lap 37 and finished in positions 36 through 40.

Cindric led 12 laps and won Stage One Saturday.

Myatt Snider finished fourth and Daniel Hemric finished sixth in the stage.

Brandon Brown entered the race 52 points behind the playoff cutline but lost 30 points due to the wreck.

Brown is now 82 points behind 12th-place driver Riley Herbst who finished seventh Saturday.

Jonathan Fjeld is the co-owner of the The Racing Experts, LLC. He has been with TRE since 2010.

A Twin Valley, MN, native, Fjeld became a motorsports fan at just three years old (first race was the 2002 Pennsylvania 500). He worked as a contributor and writer for TRE from 2010-18. He became the co-owner and managing editor in 2023 and has guided the site to massive growth in that time.

Fjeld has covered a wide array of stories and moments over the years, including Kevin Harvick's final Cup Series season, the first NASCAR national series disqualification in over 50 years, Shane van Gisbergen's stunning win in Chicago and the first Cup Series race at Road America in 66 years – as well as up-and-coming drivers' stories and stories from inside the sport, like the tech it takes for Hendrick Motorsports to remain a top-tier team.

Currently, he resides in Albuquerque, N.M., where he works for KOB 4, an NBC station. He works as a digital producer and does on-air reports. He loves spending time with friends and family, playing and listening to music, exploring new places, being outdoors, reading books and writing among other activities.
