Timothy Peters will attempt to qualify for his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway with Ricky Benton Racing next week, the team confirmed to The Racing Experts Wednesday.

Talladega will mark Peters’ first attempt at a Cup Series race, driving the No. 92 Ford. The team said Advance Auto Parts will be the primary sponsor for the ride.

Peters has made 239 starts in the Camping World Truck Series, notching 10 wins in the series and a career-high of second in driver’s standings in 2012. Additionally, the driver made eight starts for Richard Childress Racing in the XFINITY Series between 2006 and 2007.

The team plans on utilizing the same racecar David Gilliland drove to a 14th-place effort in the 2018 Daytona 500.

Ricky Benton Racing is in its first year of part-time competition in NASCAR’s premier series. If the team makes the race, it will mark the organization’s second start in the series.

Qualifying for the Geico 500 will be held on Saturday, April 28.

The race will be run on Sunday, April 29, with television coverage on FOX.
