Rain cancels all Indianapolis 500 qualifying day 1 on-track activity
SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Rain officially cancels all on-track activity for the NTT INDYCAR Series as they hoped to fit in the first day of the PPG Presents Armed Forces Qualifying.
On-track activity will resume for the sixth practice session at 9:30 a.m. ET, Sunday on FS2.

The rain started early today. The final practice session that was supposed to lead up to the first qualifying day was quickly canceled in an effort to give the track and the track dryers ample time to dry.
But that hope of a drying track faded just as fast as Felix Rosenqvist went in the previous practice session. The rain remained persistent which led the INDYCAR officials no choice but to cancel the session.
Qualifying will start at 12:00 p.m. ET on FS2. Each car will have one attempt during the session as the originally scheduled qualifying format has been condensed.
There will not be a 10th-15th session. Instead, the more familiar oval qualification format will take place.
After the 33-car field completes their one run, the top 12 on speed will move onto the next round at 4:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
From there, the Firestone Fast Six will commence at 6:00 p.m. ET on the same network to crown the polesitter and complete the 11-row deep Indianapolis 500 grid.
