Rain delays MLB Speedway Classic at Bristol to Sunday
BRISTOL, Tenn. — Rain delayed the MLB Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway to Sunday, incidentally letting the event honor another time-tested NASCAR tradition.
The game between the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds started after a rain delay lasting two hours and 17 minutes. Then, in the bottom of the first inning, the skies opened up again and delayed the game to Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
Gates opened at 10 a.m. ET. All Saturday tickets will be honored Sunday.
The MLB Speedway Classic is set in the infield of the half-mile Bristol Motor Speedway. The game opened up with some NASCAR traditions mixed into the baseball fanfare. A record MLB regular season crowd was expected at the game.
