Rain hands Carson Kvapil’s first career O’Reilly Series pole at Kansas
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Carson Kvapil earns his first career NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series pole after thunderstorms wipe out the Kansas Lottery 300 qualifying session at Kansas Speedway.
This is his first career series pole in 52 attempts.

Kvapil has performed well despite the seat shuffle chaos this season, though his pole via the NASCAR performance metric got a boost from Connor Zilisch’s win last week at Bristol.
On the subject of seat shuffles, William Byron slides into the JR Motorsports No. 88 for the weekend and lines up alongside Kvapil in second. His metric score was boosted thanks to Kyle Larson’s perforance last week but also in part to the team’s owners points position.
Justin Allgaier and Sheldon Creed share the second row, while Brent Crews leads the Toyota contingent from fifth.
Corey Day starts sixth, followed by William Sawalich, Parker Retzlaff, Jesse Love, and Taylor Gray to round out the top ten.
Brandon Jones, who won here last fall, defends that victory from 13th. Further back, Sam Mayer starts 19th after his rough weekend at Bristol.
Luke Baldwin makes his second career start as the lone Ford in the field, rolling off 26th.
The final notable entry of the weekend is the second and final Cup regular in the field. Cole Custer makes his second of five appearances in the SS Greenlight No. 0 and starts 36th.
Below is the full starting lineup for the Kansas Lottery 300.
