Ryan Blaney describes Nashville crash as ‘Hardest hit’ of his life

Ryan Blaney’s front-end crash into a Turn 1 inside retaining wall at Nashville Speedway was described as the hardest hit of his career.

Blaney’s No. 12 went for a spin after contact from Kyle Busch after a restart Sunday in the Ally 400. Blaney spun towards the infield of the track, ultimately making contact with a concrete inside wall head-on on lap 146.

“I don’t know why there’s no SAFER Barrier there,” Blaney said. “It’s ridiculous, honestly. Hardest hit I’ve had in my life.”

Blaney said he was okay after the crash, but thought he was going to be able to continue after the spin, and before the impact.

“I thought I could get back going straight until the last second, just never came back,” he said.

Blaney finished last (36th) in the Ally 400.
