Sammy Smith to join JR Motorsports in 2024
Sammy Smith will join JR Motorsports and drive the No. 8 Chevrolet full-time in the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.
Smith will replace Josh Berry as Berry will replace Kevin Harvick in the NASCAR Cup Series at Stewart-Haas Racing.
As the young Midwest phenom goes to JRM, that will leave the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing entry open in the Xfinity Series.

“Sammy is a great fit for our program and will mesh well with our other drivers,” team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. said. “He’s a young, talented racer who’s willing to learn and carries himself with a lot of professionalism. He has a bright future ahead. I’m excited for our team to help him continue his journey.”
“I am very appreciative for the support of all my partners that helped make this happen,” Smith said. “The opportunity to race for JR Motorsports is one I am looking forward to and cannot wait to see what we all accomplish together.”
Smith will bring Pilot Flying J, TMC Transportation and the Allstate Peterbilt Group over as partners.
With Smith named to the No. 8, the full-time JRM lineup is set for 2024. Smith’s teammates will be Sam Mayer (No. 1), Justin Allgaier (No. 7) and Brandon Jones (No. 9).
