Second yet again for Daniel Hemric
Daniel Hemric led laps, won a stage and contended for the win in the Alsco Uniforms 300, but he ultimately came up short — securing an eighth runner-up finish in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver remains winless through 91 career starts in the series.
“You hate to have one get away like that, but we wanted to come here and lead laps and win stages and we did that today,” Hemric said. “We wound up with a shot and just got beat.”
Hemric led on eight occasions for 74 laps — the most of any competitor in the race Saturday.
Hemric has opened the 2021 season with three Top-5 finishes, four Top-10 finishes, 76 laps led and second overall in driver’s points, including three consecutive Top-5 finishes.
“We’ve had good finishes, but by far the most speed we’ve had,” Hemric said. “We come here to win these races for sure.
“Disappointed to have one get away like that and get beat, but (race winner) A.J. (Allmendinger) did an incredible job. Felt like our cars were fairly equal.”
