Spire Motorsports, NASCAR champion crew chief Rodney Childers split

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Spire Motorsports confirmed the team parted ways with NASCAR Cup Series champion crew chief Rodney Childers.

Co-owner Jeff Dickerson confirmed the split in a statement issued Wednesday.

Childers worked with Justin Haley and the No. 7 team to start the season. The most recent race, April 13 at Bristol Motor Speedway, saw Haley rocket to the front at the start and hang on to a top-10 spot throughout the day.

Childers previously worked with Stewart-Haas Racing, serving as crew chief for Josh Berry in 2024 and most notably for Kevin Harvick from 2014-23. Harvick and Childers won the 2014 title together.
