Sportscar ace Kamui Kobayashi to make NASCAR Cup Series debut

Kamui Kobayashi, a 24 Hours of LeMans winner, will attempt his NASCAR Cup Series debut at the Indianapolis Grand Prix Circuit.

Kobayashi will drive 23XI Racing’s No. 67 Toyota Camry open entry. He will attempt to make the field for the August 13 Verizon 200 at the Brickyard.

The 2021 LeMans champion and two-time 24 Hours of Daytona champion races full-time in the World Endurance Championship. Kobyashi races for Toyota Gazoo Racing, which is how the deal with 23XI came together.

Kobayashi also raced in Formula One full-time from 2009-12 and in most of 2014.

He will be the second driver to pilot 23XI Racing’s No. 67 Toyota. Travis Pastrana drove the car first in the Daytona 500.
