SRX postpones 2024 season
The 2024 Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) season is postponed, officials said in a statement issued Thursday.
Officials expressed “deep disappointment” that their fourth season will not go as planned, further stating:
“Our expectations have been tempered by market factors that have proven too much to overcome. Time has run out to put forth the kind of events that our fans, partners, drivers and tracks observe. We’re thankful to each for their commitment, their contributions and their support as we brought a new idea to reality.”
The statement continued, stating they’re “actively exploring” strategic options for the long-term potential of the series. They announced the postponement to allow their partners “time and flexibility” to best serve their interests.
SRX had already announced the dates and five of the six tracks for the 2024 season.
SRX began in 2021 as a brainchild of Tony Stewart and Ray Evernham. Earlier this week, however, Evernham announced a partnership with Rob Kauffman to relaunch the IROC brand in 2024.
During SRX’s three-season run, they’ve brought in NASCAR and IndyCar stars such as Stewart, Greg Biffle, Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan. The series also allowed young drivers such as Ernie Francis Jr., Luke Fenhaus, and grassroots drivers such as Doug Coby and Bubba Pollard, to race on a national stage.
Additionally, it allowed local home tracks such as Stafford Motor Speedway, Pevely, Sharon Speedway, Slinger, Berlin and Motor Mile to be featured on a national broadcast.
Stewart won the 2021 title, while Marco Andretti claimed the 2022 title. Ryan Newman claimed the 2023 title.
