The ‘Chase’ is on at Dover: Rain puts Elliott, Briscoe on NASCAR Cup front row
DOVER, Del. — The “Chase” is on at Dover Motor Speedway as Chase Elliott and Chase Briscoe will start on the front row for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race.
Rain canceled practice and qualifying for the NASCAR Cup Series’ AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Dover, setting the qualifying results and starting lineup by the metric.

Driver Chase Elliott and his team sit second in the respective standings, earning them an edge on the grid over Chase Briscoe and his team who sit eighth in the respective standings.
Briscoe and Elliott are coming off of finishing second and third at Sonoma to Shane van Gisbergen. SVG will start sixth, by far his best oval start ever. His previous-best was 23rd at Pocono and Nashville in June.

Kyle Busch will start 10th. In each of the last two Cup races at Dover, Busch won the pole and led at least 25 laps. During the first NextGen race at Dover, he started 10th, led 103 laps and finished seventh. Between 2024 and 2022, he has averaged 10 stage points per race. A repeat of that would be big. Busch sits 37 points below the playoff cutline with six races to go in the regular season.

On the other end are championship favorites Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney. Late in the race at Sonoma, they crashed and finished 35th and 36th, sinking their metric and their starting positions at Dover. Larson will start 25th while Blaney will start 31st.
At Dover in 2024, Larson led 39 of 400 laps and finished second to Denny Hamlin while Blaney led 47 laps and finished seventh.
