Tire issues hit Legacy Motor Club early in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Chevrolet organizations faced right-rear tire issues throughout the weekend but arguably none worse than Legacy Motor Club.

On lap 66, Erik Jones popped a right-rear tire and slid to bring out the first caution.

Jones kept going and ran as high as 16th

Then, 46 laps later, on lap 112, teammate Carson Hocevar also had a right-rear tire issue.

Hocevar wasn’t as fortunate. He popped the tire in turns one and two and slid into the wall.

“I wasn’t going forward, had a small vibration. Just tough to come down pit road when you’re not 1000% sure and could lose a lap or two. I definitely wish I would’ve took the risk a little more. Our car was fast and that’s all I can say,” Hocevar said.

Hocevar only has three DNFs in his seven career NASCAR Cup Series starts. Two of those were for a mechanical issue.

He will get three more opportunities with Legacy Motor Club this season.
