Truck Series returning to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in 2027

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will make a return to Canada for the first time in eight years. Canadian Tire Motorsports Park will host the series on Sunday, Sept. 5 on Labor Day weekend. The series used to visit the track on that weekend from 2013 to 2019.

The return is expected to be highly anticipated and looked forward to. The Truck Series has given fans a lot of thrilling races and finishes. Notables include the inaugural race in 2013 when Ty Dillon and Chase Elliott battled for the win, before Elliott sent Dillon into the tires in the final turn to win. In 2014, Ryan Blaney beat German Quiroga in a thrilling photo finish.

2016 saw another photo finish after John Hunter Nemechek moved Cole Custer into the grass. Nemechek barely won over Custer, and while waiting to receive the checkered flag, Custer ran over and tackled Nemechek. Kyle Busch Motorsports teammates Todd Gilliland and Noah Gragson tangled in 2018 and both lost the race spinning in the final turn. Justin Haley took advantage and won the race.

Brett Moffitt won the last race at Canadian Tire in 2019. The 2020 and 2021 schedules featured the track, but the COVID-19 Pandemic cancelled both races.

Out of the current field of Truck Series regulars, only six have made a start in the series at Canadian Tire. One of them is Canadian Stewart Friesen, who has made two starts at the track. He finished seventh in both 2018 and 2019.

Throughout the series’ prior run at the 10 turn 2.46 mile road course, multiple drivers from the NASCAR Canada Series made starts in the Truck race. Some of these drivers include Alex Tagliani, D.J. Kennington, Gary Klutt, and various others.

The race will serve as the regular season finale for the 2027 season. With the chaos the track has produced in the past, the Truck Series’ return to Canada will be one to not miss.
