Truex Jr. comments on brother’s Darlington throwback

DARLINGTON, S.C.—As brothers Ryan and Martin Truex Jr. finished talking before the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Darlington Speedway, it appeared the Truex brothers were twins.

Ryan Truex sported a throwback paint scheme in the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 Saturday to his brother and defending Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr.

To make his throwback all the more special, the youngest Truex brother, Ryan, made a bet with the fans on Twitter.

That tweet exceeded the 5,000 retweets and Ryan shaved his beard to complete the throwback. As both Truex brothers were standing next to each other, the similarities to each other was unreal.

“It’s a double throwback,” Truex Jr. said to The Racing Experts. “He’s throwing it back to me when we threw back to Dale Sr.

“The crazy thing for me is just to think about how long ago that was when it feels like yesterday. Quite a while ago but definitely special to see Ryan in that paint scheme today.”

Martin Truex Jr. will start third for the Bojangles Southern 500 Sunday night.
