Truex nets runner-up finish at ISM Raceway

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Ryan Truex finished runner-up to Kyle Busch Saturday in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at ISM Raceway, his highest finish in the series since 2012.

Driving the No. 8 entry for JR Motorsports, Truex finished over three seconds behind Busch as the highest finishing driver for his team.

“We were at least second-place car at the end, I felt,” Truex said to The Racing Experts. “We deserved to be up there.”

The start in the iK9 Service Dog 200 was Truex’s first of the season in NASCAR’s second-tier series.

Truex has three more confirmed starts with JR Motorsports, according to the team, with races scheduled at Las Vegas in September, Charlotte in September, and Kansas in October.

Truex previously competed for Kaulig Racing in 2018, qualifying for the playoffs with 11 top-10 finishes.

The 26-year-old driver confirmed to TRE he will also be competing at Kentucky in July.
