Ty Dillon to make 300th Cup start at Chicagoland

For the second week in a row, Kaulig Racing will have a driver reach a major milestone in starts. This time from Ty Dillon at Chicagoland.

While A.J. Allmendinger made his 500th start this past weekend at Sonoma, Ty Dillon will make his 300th NASCAR Cup Series start at Chicagoland Speedway this weekend.

Dillon made his first start at Atlanta in 2014, and is currently competing in his eighth full time season.

This season, he currently sits 33rd in points with five top 20 finishes. His best finish came at Nashville when he finished 12th.

Dillon is coming off of a near upset in NASCAR’s In-Season Tournament last week when he was in position to knock out No. 2 seed Denny Hamlin.

Unfortunately, his Cinderella story run from last year couldn’t be replicated after steering issues ruined his day in the closing laps.

This weekend he will be making his fifth cup start at Chicagoland as part of the tracks return to NASCAR for the first time since 2019. His best finish was a 27th place finish in 2016, when he drove the No. 7 for Tommy Baldwin Racing filling in for Regan Smith.

His 300th start comes with a veteran’s advantage. Nearly half of the drivers entered have never made a cup start at Chicagoland which could give Dillon the upper hand against the midfield to make his milestone a memorable one.
