NASCAR in-season tournament down to Ty v. Ty at Indy
DOVER, Del. — Ty Gibbs and Ty Dillon will face off for $1 million in the final round of the NASCAR in-season tournament at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Gibbs finished fifth, seven positions ahead of Tyler Reddick, while Dillon finished 20th — one position and a lap ahead of John Hunter Nemechek.
Reddick and Gibbs started fourth and ninth. Meanwhile, Dillon and Nemechek started 21st and 28th.
Dillon stayed ahead of Nemechek in the first stage. Meanwhile, Reddick stayed ahead of Gibbs until a competition caution on lap 35. Six laps after the restart for the caution, Gibbs passed Reddick.
In the second stage, Gibbs held control over Reddick. However, Nemechek took control away from Dillon.
After green-flag pit stops, Dillon took the position back but Nemechek didn’t let him go. In fact, they made contact while leaders tried to maneuver around them.
Eventually, Nemechek passed Dillon on lap 228 with 22 laps to go in the stage.
In the final stage, Nemechek and Gibbs were set to advance in the in-season tournament. After a caution for rain with 63 laps to go, however, they both lost positions — putting Nemechek just one spot ahead of Dillon and Gibbs behind Reddick.
Again, Mother Nature had her way with the in-season tournament. After a red flag for rain, a restart with eight laps to go and all of the drivers on fresher tires saw Gibbs get ahead of Reddick. Dillon also moved ahead of Nemechek.
A crash provoked overtime. Another caution flew, giving Dillon the free pass for double overtime, giving him a huge advantage to advance in the in-season tournament over John Hunter Nemechek.
Ty Dillon entered the tournament as the No. 32 seed — the worst seed. Now, he and Ty Gibbs will battle for the $1 million grand prize at Indy.
