Tyler Ankrum becomes 105th winner in Truck Series history
Tyler Ankrum is now a winner in NASCAR.
Ankrum became the 105th driver in the history NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series after collecting victory Thursday (July 11) in the Buckle Up in Your Truck 225 at Kentucky Speedway.
The win came in Ankrum’s 12th start in the series, making the 18-year-old driver eligible for the playoffs in the third-tier NASCAR series.
“I was just driving my rear-end off,” Ankrum said. “Holy cow. I think I held my breath through the last three laps there. I’m tired.
“I think I honestly forgot to breathe. Holy cow. That was awesome. I just can’t thank my guys at DGR-Crosley enough.”
Ankrum joins Austin Hill (Daytona in February) and Ross Chastain (Kansas in May) as first-time winners in the series this year.
The next race for the series is the Gander RV 150 on Saturday, June 27 at Pocono Raceway.
