Tyler Reddick beats SVG for Charlotte Roval pole
CONCORD, N.C. — Tyler Reddick took the weight of the world on his shoulders and his heart — and placed it on the pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at the Charlotte Roval.

Reddick outpaced Shane van Gisbergen for the pole Saturday in qualifying. He will start in the best position possible to overcome a 29-point deficit to the cutline, heading into Sunday’s cutoff race.
“Incredible effort by this team. This is a track we’ve been really good at. It’s been a difficult week and it’s nice we got the job done,” Reddick said.
Reddick’s infant son Rookie is undergoing treatment for heart issues. He reportedly said, “this week, everything going on in the racing world has taken a back seat, as it should,” adding his playoff run isn’t at the forefront of his mind.
This week is a home race for Reddick and everyone in the garage, making a big week like this a little easier — especially with some work to do overnight.
“We have some work to do tomorrow,” Reddick said. “I’m gonna need a little but I believe in my group… We’ll go to work on it.”
Reddick and four other playoff drivers will start in the top 10, including Kyle Larson (fourth), Christopher Bell (seventh), Chase Briscoe (eighth) and Ross Chastain (10th).
Chastain is 13 points below the cutline behind Joey Logano, who starts 17th — giving Chastain an advantage to start Sunday’s race.
No playoff driver will start worse than 19th, which is where Austin Cindric is starting Sunday. Cindric must win to advance — and Bubba Wallace is just about there too. Wallace is 26 points below the cutline and will start 12th.
