What to Know: NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Format
Here is what to know about the format for the upcoming NASCAR All-Star Race, May 21 at North Wilkesboro Speedway.
The historic race is the first time the NASCAR Cup Series will race at the hallowed track since September 1996.
The format will consist of a pair of 60-lap heats Saturday night. The main event Sunday will be 200 laps, with a halfway break. After the break, teams can only change to sticker tires once.

The All-Star Open will be 100 laps Sunday night. There will be a break at lap 40, with the heat lineups set by a pit-stop competition Friday.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on NASCAR Race Hub the Heat and Open lineups will be set solely based on the pit crews’ times. They’ll also get a trophy for being the champion crew.
