The new nominees on the Modern Era Ballot are Randy Dorton, Greg Biffle and Jack Sprague.

Dorton built engines that won nine NASCAR national series championships.

Biffle won championships in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck and Xfinity Series. He also won 19 NASCAR Cup Series races and, in 2005, was just 35 points (~7 points now) away from becoming the first driver to win a championship in all three national series.

Sprague earned three championships (T-second all-time) and 28 wins (fourth all-time) in the Craftsman Truck Series.

Alongside newcomers Randy Dorton, Greg Biffle and Jack Sprague, these nominees returning to the Modern Era Ballot are:

  • Neil Bonnett
  • Tim Brewer
  • Jeff Burton
  • Carl Edwards
  • Harry Gant
  • Harry Hyde
  • Ricky Rudd

Larry Phillips was the first five-time NASCAR weekly series national champion. While he was on the Modern Era Ballot last year, he is now on the Pioneer Ballot.

Ray Hendrick, who won over 700 times in the NASCAR Modified and Late Model Sportsman divisions, is also on the Pioneer Ballot. Bob Welborn, a three-time Convertible Division champion also joins Hendrick and Phillips on that ballot.

Joining Larry Phillips, Ray Hendrick and Bob Welborn are returning Pioneer Ballot nominees:

  • Banjo Matthews, built cars that won more than 250 NASCAR Cup Series races and three championships
  • Ralph Moody, two-time NASCAR Cup Series owner champion and one half of Holman-Moody

Sam Ard, a NASCAR Xfinity Series pioneer and two-time champion, and AJ Foyt, who won seven NASCAR Cup Series races including the 1972 Daytona 500, weren’t renominated for the Pioneer Ballot.

Dr. Dean Sicking, who invented the SAFER barrier, is up for the Landmark Award, joining these nominees:

  • Alvin Hawkins, NASCAR’s first flagman; established NASCAR racing at Bowman Gray Stadium with Bill France Sr.
  • Dr. Joseph Mattioli, founder of Pocono Raceway
  • Lesa France Kennedy, NASCAR Executive Vice Chair
  • Les Richter, a long-time NASCAR executive who oversaw competition and helped grow the sport on the West Coast

The NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2025 will consist of two Modern Era nominees and one Pioneer nominee, as well as a Landmark Award winner.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame Voting Panel will meet in-person May 21 to discuss and vote on the class and the award winner.

The fan vote winners will also play into the final ballot tallied. The fan vote is open through May 19 at 12 p.m. ET. Click here to access it.
