2020 NASCAR Cup Series Free Pass Breakdown after Fan Shield 500 at Phoenix
After four races in 2020, 26 free passes have been given out to the highest running driver one or more laps down at the time of caution.
Below is a breakdown of how those 26 free passes have been given out in each race:
Daytona 500:
Caution 2 (Lap 60): No. 51 Joey Gase
Cautions 5 and 7 (Laps 132, 194): No. 15 Brennan Poole (2)
Caution 8 (Lap 200): No. 62 Brendan Gaughan
(Cautions 1, 3, 4, 6 and 9 each did not have a free pass recipient.)

Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas:

A Twin Valley, MN, native, Fjeld became a motorsports fan at just three years old (first race was the 2002 Pennsylvania 500). He worked as a contributor and writer for TRE from 2010-18. Since then, he has stepped up and covered 24 NASCAR race weekends and taken on a larger role with TRE. He became the co-owner and managing editor in 2023 and has guided the site to massive growth in that time.

Currently, he resides in Albuquerque, N.M., where he works for KOB 4, an NBC station. He works as a digital producer and does on-air reports.
