Brandon Jones passes Kyle Busch for Phoenix win

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Four races into 2020 have produced four different winners in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Brandon Jones passed teammate Kyle Busch with 21 laps to go at Phoenix Raceway in the LS Tractor 200 Saturday (March 7), claiming his second career victory in the series.

“These are two of arguably the best in the business,” Jones said post race. “We just had the car to beat ‘em today. These guys just did such an incredible job.”

Rookie Harrison Burton finished second; his fourth top-5 finish of the season.

“By the end, I felt like I was hitting my marks and hitting my strides,” Burton said. “We’re close, but not good enough.”

Kyle Busch was the highest finishing Cup Series driver in the field. Despite leading a race-high 78 laps, he finished third.

“We missed it somewhere compared to the other JGR cars,” Busch said. “Got beat by two of them.”

“…I thought we were going to run 10th today.”

Brad Keselowski and Justin Haley rounded out the top-5 finishers.

For the second week in a row, Harrison Burton is leading driver standings leaving Phoenix with 136 total points.

Chase Briscoe remains 10 points behind Burton in second.

Austin Cindric (-21 points), Brandon Jones (-28) and Ross Chastain (-30) are the remaining top-5 drivers in points.

The next Xfinity Series race is the Atlanta 250 scheduled for next Saturday (March 14) at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
